School readiness

What we work on

• Classroom routines: welcome circle, listening, raising a hand, tidying up.
• Focus: finishing an activity before starting another.
• Independence: coats, shoes, bags and tidy-up — “I do it myself”.
• Families: simple routines to keep at home before school starts.

How we know it works

By spring, most of our older children sit through a full workshop, follow two-step instructions and manage their belongings on their own. That is exactly what a reception teacher hopes to see.
